  • Lead process development/improvement projects/tasks to meet customer expectations and company goals
  • Develop and validate new process methods using analytical skills. Issue engineering reports required to support findings
  • Document process procedures to detail level required for manufacturing capability. Train required personnel on new techniques and methods
  • Devise, prepare and oversee execution of TFP and TFE production Cals runs and experimental Cal runs as needed or directed
  • Regularly and effectively communicate status of activities/projects with manager
  • Lead in evaluating and auditing standard/written process procedures to assure process stability
  • Lead in engineering alternative methods to improve existing techniques, product yields, efficiencies and costs
  • Solve problems by using varying techniques to understand and resolve process yield issues
  • Implement new processes or process changes to be compatible with Corporate Engineering and Manufacturing Information Systems
  • Train technicians on new process/procedures and discuss reasons for change and the effect on application
  • Perform all operation processes to achieve a sound level of understanding


  • BSME, BSEE or equivalent advanced knowledge of thin film coating designs
  • 6+ years as Engineer in IR Optical Thin Film Engineering or related field
  • Excellent creativity and practical problem solving abilities related to thin film coating technique
  • Good mechanical ability in designing, diagnosing and trouble-shooting process problems
  • Sound knowledge of thin film theory, design, processing, and product applications
  • Hands-on problem solving and operations audits
  • Good computer skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work both independently and cooperatively with others
