KEY JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead II-VI's penetration into the market for InP-based lasers, modulators, and detectors.  Establish growth business with customers outside our internal transceiver business.  Manage product line for both internal and external products.

  • Responsible for Product Management of DMLs, EMLs, Tunable Lasers, MZ modulators, amplifiers, detectors, and integrated combinations of those. Also, diffractive optical elements such as lenses, diffusers, and gratings.
  • Accountable for profit and loss of product line.
  • Identify and quantify market opportunities for new products within the product line. 
  • Coordinate allocations of new products during development phase.
  • Manage pricing for these products.
  • Develop new product roadmaps, in collaboration with R&D leadership.
  • Define detailed customer requirements for new products.
  • Communicate roadmaps, product portfolio, selling features, competitive advantages, market applications, etc. to world-wide. sales force.
  • Drive cost reductions and manage product change notification through customer base.
  • Drive customizations and specification review process to win designs at new customers.
  • Research new high growth market opportunities for InP-based device direct sales, in collaboration with Strategic Marketing.
  • Research new product opportunities in our existing Datacom/Telecom markets.
  • Monitor market share metrics to assess market performance in individual segments.
  • Work with sales team and directly with current and potential customers to obtain the required background and opportunity information in these markets.
  • Manage products for other applications, such as LiDAR, possibly in collaboration with marketing or product management in other II-VI business units
  • Develop and foster relationships with key partners, including IC companies, customers, start-ups developing key technologies, etc. Leverage those relationships to understand new product directions.
  • Responsible for technical editing of product data sheets, specifications, and other collateral material.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • The ideal candidate is a self-starter who has an exceptional understanding of product/corporate strategy and high-tech hardware markets.
  • Semiconductor electro-optical device experience required. 8+ years of related experience.
  • Engineering Degree Required. MBA Desired.
  • Ability to travel internationally to visit customers, attend trade-shows, etc.
