Basic Function of the Job
As a Technical Manager, you will be responsible for the management and coordination of program activities as assigned. The successful candidate will work with engineers, planners, procurement, and other AMD/EPI works team members to plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate the assigned program(s).  You will be working with customers, vendors, and AMD /EPI works partners to identify solutions to meet product requirements for various applications.

Job Requirements
 
Education:
        M.S. or Ph.D. in Engineering or Science

  •  
    Experience:
            5 -10 years SiC Epitaxy experience
  •         Semiconductor manufacturing experience is preferred
  •         Experience with MOCVD growth, fabrication and testing of power devices
  •         Experience with problem analysis and resolution
  •         Demonstrated ability to achieve results independently or working with others
  •         Ability to recommend and implement improvements
  •         Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  •         Experience with networked PC based computer system (MS Office, Excel, Access, graphics, Email, MRP systems, and accounting software)
  •         Demonstrated ability to lead people and achieve results through others
  •         Experience with problem analysis and resolution at the functional level
  •         Proven track record of continuous improvement
  •         Able to develop long-term plans, programs, and goals, to evaluate work accomplishments and provide effective feedback
  •         Experience under ISO9001 Quality Management System
  •         Experience and success in product definition and release

Job Element
 
1) Product, Technology Development and Program Management - 70%
A)     Responsible for evaluating, planning, scheduling, conducting, and coordinating the technical management of assigned AMD/Epiworks products and projects.

B)     Manage product line development effort from initial internal phases through customer qualification, including equipment and metrology set definition.

C)    Define product requirements and roadmap along-side customer inputs.

D)    Utilize project management tools to drive project performance using best practices and techniques.

E)     Hire and Manage engineering team responsible for epitaxial growth

F)     Manage development budget including personnel, capital equipment, and materials expenses.

G)    Determine equipment processes for suitable throughput quality and cost to enter the market at required price targets

H)    Coordinate with operations and quality to ensure equipment meets capabilities and tolerances requirements and to transfer to processes from development to production.

I)       Accountable to drive AMD/EPI Works products from selection and needs determination through to customer delivery and engage in sustaining activities.

J)     Interface and coordinate on assigned projects between all disciplines, suppliers, and all project participants to ensure effective, accurate, and concise communication.

K)     Schedules are kept up-to-date with correct assumptions, dependencies, and constraints according to industry accepted standards.

L)     Use expertise and awareness of details to recognize and identify project risks.  Develop, implement, and monitor the appropriate mitigation efforts.

M)    All projects are closely monitored for scope creep.  Upon recognition of scope creep, drive the Engineering and Sales teams to provide the cost/price impacts to the Customer, before the execution of the requested tasks.

N)    Directly interface with and engage the team to drive meetings and close action items.

O)    Drive both Engineering and Production efforts to ensure that product launches into Manufacturing achieve the fiscal year and five-year plans.

P)     Ensure the Phase Gate process is effectively utilized to transition new products to the engineering and manufacturing organizations.

Q)    Use PM skills to effectively manage program through the initiating, planning, executing, monitoring & controlling, and closing process groups during each phase in the Phase Gate process. 

R)    Improvements to the Phase Gate process are identified and recommendations are made to upper management.

S)     Interface with Accounting, Costing and Production Control to ensure accurate labor rates and costs are determined.

T)     Global engineering resources are utilized and integrated as required.

U)    Participation in special problem solving sessions addressing complex problems provides value to the team and actions are completed accurately and timely.

  
2) Intellectual Property / Business Operations - 15%
A)     Relevant Company Technology Control Plan, Export Compliance requirements, IP, IT, SOX, and Quality procedures are understood and executed.

B)     Externally and internally funded research and/or development programs consistent with the company technical direction are supported through successful completion of identified tasks.

C)    Trade Secrets and IP are defined and protective actions taken.

D)    PM participates with the external customer interface positively portraying AMD and II-VI Inc.

E)     Department processes are reviewed/audited for continuous improvement and cycle time reduction opportunities are pursued.

F)     Department processes are ISO9001 and ITAR compliant

G)    Records, reports and metrics are accurate and on time.

H)    Department budget is managed according to plan

I)       Company policy regarding ergonomically safe work environment and safety training is followed and supported

J)     A high standard of ethics, professionalism, leadership, competency, and quality is set


3) Personal Development / Business Practices/ Human Resources -10%
A)     Complementary technology publications are reviewed regularly
